This Saturday, August 1, 2009, is the 46th Annual Lewes Historical Society Antiques Show and I can’t wait. I remember the first time I went to this show and discovered that there were several pieces I just had to have. What did surprise me was that the prices were reasonable and there was such a good variety of antiques at all price levels. I needed my husband’s panel van to get all of my purchases home that first day!
So this Saturday, I will start my day hunting for some great finds. I’ll bring my camera and post photos later!
Comprised of many quality antique dealers from the Mid-Atlantic region, each show attracts nearly 2,000 visitors. Hours of the show are 9 AM to 4 PM; admission to each show is $3.00, children under 12 free. For more information, visit The Lewes Historical Society.

In a great Lewes location on Pilottown Road, overlooking the Canal Park, this home is now Under Contract!

Once the home of Howard Schroeder, noted Lewes artist, this lovely home is what living in Lewes is all about. Walk around the corner to enjoy the shops and fine dining available. Watch the sunrise and sunset from your front porch or balcony.
There are some charming homes available in great locations in Lewes, Delaware, but they are selling.
Don’t delay. With the low interest rates and great prices this is an opportunity that will not come around for Baby Boomers again.

I was scheduling showing appointments for two new listings in Lewes for this Sunday and heard these words -
“Sorry, but that house is under contract and we already have a backup contract”!

MLS 570377
Wow, I haven’t heard those word in some time. The clients that are going to be here on Sunday have been looking at homes with me for several months now. Each time they have come back there were a few new homes on the market but most of the ones they had already seen were still available. Hard to feel any sense of urgency when it doesn’t appear that anything is selling.
Then one of the homes on the MAYBE list sold. Now this one they never got to see is apparently sold. Everyone in my office is busy, busy, busy showing properties and making offers.
There have also been a few price reductions on other homes for sale in Lewes, Delaware, 19958 – homes that remain on the market but have not yet sold. Some very good homes in terrific locations are for sale at prices we will never see again, at least not in my lifetime. So how will that affect the buyers we are all working with? Only time will tell, but history says that once the ball starts rolling, it picks up tempo.

The cars are lined up outside my window overlooking the intersection of Savannah Road and 2nd Street. Just down the road is the Canal and beyond it is the Lewes Beach. Finally summer has arrived and it’s Beachtime in Delaware.
There are lots of activities planned for the holiday weekend but it’s also a good time to get acquainted with our town and see what fun it would be to own a home here in Lewes, Delaware. Start the day tomorrow at the Farmers Market and pick up some fresh vegetables and beautiful strawberries and other healthy goodies.
I love to pick up some colorful zinnias from Lucky Penny if I get there early enough.
Second Street will be closed to traffic during the day to make room for Sidewalk Art Show & Sale beginning at 9 am.
Then make your way to the Canal before the 4th of July Boat Parade – get there in time to get a place on the bridge for the best view. Lewes is the place to celebrate the 4th of July is you prefer a family friendly, dog friendly and people friendly town out having a good time.
