Kathy and Bill at the RE/MAX office
One of the great things about having your office right in the heart of town is having a front row seat for the Christmas Parade. This year, despite a slight drizzle, the parade was a fun event. Clients stopped in all night long to warm up and enjoy refreshments and camped out on the sidewalk in front of the building to enjoy the floats and the entertainment.
All of the shops on Second Street, just around the corner are staying open until 8 pm right up until Christmas. Some of our favorites, like Deanna’s and Twila Farrells are great places to buy a special gift for the women in your life. There are also great jewelry stores, antique shops, and a fabulous toy store owned and run by the Mayor and his wife.

The third annual Sea Glass Festival will take place on October 11th and 12th of 2008 at the University of Delaware, College of Marine Studies Campus, also known as The Virden Center, in Lewes, Delaware. This will be the first time the Festival has taken place on the East Coast; the first two took place in Santa Cruz, California. With a wonderful weather forecast for the weekend, we are expecting a crowd. The event will feature nationally known artisans and collectors of this increasingly popular coastal collectible.
In addition to lectures and seminars the international “Shard of the Year” contest will be held awarding a $1,000 cash prize to the collector with the most rare and desirable piece of sea glass. The contest which attracted over 900 entries in ‘07, will be judged by board members of the North American Sea Glass Association who are hosting the two-day event.
A growing crowd of sea glass collectors from across the U.S. attended the last two events and several international collectors will visit this year. Exhibitors include jewelry and craft artists, photographers and authors that have been featured in the national media.
The public is welcomed for an admission charge of $5.00 for the entire weekend. Children 12 and under are admitted free of charge. Festival hours are from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. For more information visit the Sea Glass Festival page.

Lewes, Delaware, is called the “First Town in the First State”. It’s a beach town and a year round town where the locals live in town, patronize the shops and restaurants in town and participate in everything that is Lewes. It is pronounced like the name Louis and it’s the other end of the Cape May/Lewes Ferry that brings visitors from New York and New Jersey to Delaware.
I hope you will visit our blog and visit us in Lewes. It’s a great place to live.
